What a difference a year makes!
As many know, my shift into starting my own company came as a result of my job being downsized at the end of July 2009. One day you have the big job with all the big stuff that comes with it and then the next day you don’t. That had never happened to me before and a year later I can still say that it is not the end of the world. Life happens.
What happens next is up to you and in this case…it was up to me. So as I’ve talked about in different print and online interviews over the past year, I chose to start my own company…a water filtration company called ClearView Water based in Denver, Colorado.
When many of us met last year, I had not even come up with the name of the company yet. Let alone the long list of the branding, marketing, service, sales, vendor, supplier and website issues that needed to be handled along the way. It has been really cool to develop the company from scratch in front of the Denver community. I can’t tell you how rewarding that has been.
It is also very rewarding to know that we are making a difference in the city and state that I love. We’ve educated people on water and why our stewardship of it is so important. Our customers no longer participate in the wastes associated with all bottled water and water delivery services. They have filtration units installed in their homes and businesses that gives them the healthy water that they deserve. I’m proud of the work we are doing.
I’m proud of the way that we do business, that we’ve expanded our product and service offerings due to customer requests and are starting to build a Sales Team.
Mostly I’m proud of those 90 minutes I spent at Red Rocks on 8/3/09. The last thing I wrote in my notebook before heading back to Denver was one of my favorite lyrics and the starting point of ClearView Water – “The only baggage you can bring is all that you can’t leave behind.”
In other words – leave behind what no longer serves you and move into the possibility of the future.
Thank you again!
